While visiting Malawi on holiday in 2011 my husband and I tried a chilli sauce cooked by my husbands cousin. It was refreshing and different to anything I had ever tasted.
I realised that there was nothing on the UK market in terms of chilli sauce that represented Africa especially Central Africa. With this in mind on arrival back in the UK I started experimenting with different chillies and spices to find a taste that is authentic enough for Africa.
Eventually I come across scotch bonnet that had good results on the taste however something was still missing and this was found by using a Ugandan scotch bonnet that taste had the African authenticity. This took about a year to uncover.
The name Karibu is Swahili for “welcome” and Chewa for “join us for a meal” and the name Kali is Swahili for Hot!
If you TRULY love hot sauce this is a MUST. Having tasted well over a hundred in my travels I have become fussy with my flavours but this ticks all the boxes. It has a rich, bold flavor with a heat that is very satisfying. If you are looking for a sauce to compliment almost any food, look no further.

This chilli sauce has the perfect balance of spice and heat. We don’t need to water it down, but it does meet my hot and spicy spot
